Repsol updates the Leader Neo 5W-30,10W-30, and 10W-40 formulas

Leader Neo envase

After the improvements made in June to Leader Neo 0W-20 and 5W-20oils, at Repsol Lubricants, we continue to work on the evolution of our range of oils for gasoline and hybrid passenger vehicles. We are happy to announce that Leader Neo 5W-30 ,10W-30, and 10W-40 have raised their level to API SQ quality. In addition, in the cases of 5W-30 and 10W-30, they have incorporated the new ILSAC GF-7A specification.

API SQ, a quality evolution designed for the most modern engines, was incorporated into the API specification update for gasoline engine oils in March 2025, representing a step up from API SP. This new category offers improved energy efficiency, greater control over low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) in direct-injection turbo engines, optimized component cleaning, and increased oil durability during use.

In parallel, ILSAC GF-7A follows GF6A and introduces significant improvements in engine protection and fuel efficiency, as well as contributing to reducing deposit formation. This new quality is incorporated into Leader Neo 5W-30 and 10W-30.

This brings the whole family in line with the latest regulations for gasoline and hybrid engines, with a focus on efficiency and protection.

5W-30, 10W-30 or 10W-40: how to choose the right oil

As always, we recommend checking the vehicle manual for the specification required by the manufacturer before making any oil changes.

Various factors influence choosing the right oil, such as engine type and the operating temperature range. To make your decision easier, we invite you to use the Repsol Lubricants search engine: just by entering the license plate or vehicle model, we will recommend the option that best suits your needs.
