Repsol and Toyota: this is how we develop the lubricants for the most demanding rallies

Repsol y Toyota: así desarrollamos los lubricantes de los rallies más exigentes

The world of rallying is much more than speed and adrenaline: it is like a mobile laboratory in which the most advanced technologies are tested under extreme conditions. In this scenario, the collaboration between Repsol and the different Toyota teams is consolidating itself as an example of joint work in the field of motorsport.

Both companies have found in rally competitions an ideal space to develop and test products that meet the high technical standards demanded in this sport. In this article, we're going to go over how we work with each of these teams.

Isidre Esteve and Repsol Rally Team: the formula for success

For years, Isidre Esteve, Repsol Rally Team driver, has been a key player in the development of fuels and lubricants for Repsol. Competing in events such as Dakar, the Rallye du Maroc, or the Transibérica (Spain and Portugal), Isidre uses both fuels and lubricants specifically developed by scientists and technologists from the Repsol Technology Lab, the company's innovation center, in collaboration with the driver to ensure the best results.

Thus, his vehicle has served as a platform to test innovative products such as the renewable lubricant that debuted at Dakar 25. This oil was previously tested in Repsol's laboratories to ensure its reliability and performance before being used in real competition conditions. Isidre's experience at the wheel has made it possible to assess its behavior in extreme scenarios, providing valuable data for future developments. These advances have opened the door for other teams, such as Toyota Gazoo Racing Spain, to start incorporating Repsol products into their racing programs.

Toyota Gazoo Racing: technical development and global competition

Toyota Gazoo Racing, Toyota's main division in the world of rallying, participates in all World Rally Championship events. Within the framework of this collaboration, specific lubricant developments are being carried out at the Repsol Technology Lab, with strict tests to analyze the behavior of the products, always under the manufacturer's instructions. In this way, alternatives are explored that meet the requirements of international competitions and, at the same time, respond to current market demands.

An evolving partnership

In addition to collaborating with Toyota Gazoo Racing, Repsol also collaborates in the supply of lubricants to Toyota Gazoo Racing Spain for the WRC.

In this way, the relationship between Repsol and Toyota is constantly evolving. The exchange of knowledge and technological experience between both companies, combined with competition testing, offers an ideal framework for developing products that meet the demands of motorsport. Both fuels and lubricants go through rigorous design, testing, and certification processes before reaching the equipment, ensuring that each solution is aligned with the highest industry standards.

The progress made so far reflects the potential of this collaboration. Rally competitions continue to be a challenging environment and a unique opportunity to test technologies that will eventually reach the end consumer in the future.
