Aragón GP: Repsol Honda faces a new challenge at home
The MotoGP championship returns to Spain this weekend, and it will do so at the already emblematic circuit of Aragón, where the twelfth race of the season will take place. This event also marks its return to the calendar after a one-year absence, with that being the only time it's been missing since its debut in 2010.
The circuit, located in Alcañiz (Teruel) and rising from the ashes of the old urban track of Guadalope, has a length of 5,077 meters and 16 curves, challenging the best riders in the world in each lap.
Although other Grand Prix events have a much more extensive history, the Aragón GP has gained a special place in the hearts of riders and fans. In fact, in its debut it was awarded as the best race of the year by the International Road-Racing Teams Association (IRTA). Since then, it has offered some of the most exciting weekends of the season, which justifies its renewal, for now, until 2026.
Evolving the Honda RC213V
For the Repsol Honda team, the Aragón GP represents a new chance to continue perfecting the Honda RC213V. After an Austria GP with a bitter sweet taste, Joan Mir commented: "There are still some areas that we have to keep working on and some of our problems have become more difficult on this track. But the important thing is the information we have gained and I look to the future for what is to come with HRC.”
Mir, who has managed a podium finish in the last three editions of the Aragón GP, also highlighted that "now is the time to stay focused and keep working." At Repsol Lubricants, we continue to closely collaborate with the Technical Assistance and Development (TAD) team and TechLab to claw back every last tenth for the team.
Moreover, these innovations end up going beyond the world of the sport. As Santiago Maroto, senior TAD manager, recently explained in our blog: "Competition is the best test bench that exists. It gives us the chance to test new engines developed by manufacturers. These new technologies will reach the market in a few years, which allows us to anticipate."
This approach is the one that has allowed us to develop our Racing range, characterized by offering greater power, optimal performance, and a long service life for all moving parts. In fact, it has been 20 times champion in official competitions.
