Repsol Lubricants advances production in the Philippines: first production in 800 ml format
Repsol Lubricants has taken a new step in its growth roadmap in Asia by starting the manufacture of the 800 ml format in the Philippines through the Unioil Lubricants joint venture. Specifically, the first products to come out of the Valenzuela plant with this container are Rider Matic MB 4T 10W-30 and Rider 4T 20W-40, both part of the global motorcycle range catalog.
The goal is to produce closer to customers to reinforce security of supply, while maintaining excellence in quality. Thus, the formulation is the same as that used in Spain, while the containers are supplied locally. A milestone that has been possible thanks to the coordinated work of the local team, which has overcome various technical and operational challenges.
This industrial boost comes after Repsol's acquisition of 40% of Unioil Lubricants, formalized in April. A partnership that consolidated the company's presence in Southeast Asia, one of the lubricants markets with the greatest potential, adding the Philippines plant to Repsol Lubricants' manufacturing network, which also has plants in Spain, Mexico, Singapore, and Indonesia.
Until now, the Philippines operation had focused on higher volume formats. In fact, in June the first production with 60 drums of Maker Hydroflux EP 68 for industrial applications was completed. The entry into small containers marks a significant step forward in responding to the daily uses of the motorcycle market in the country and bringing the product closer to repair shops and points of sale.
The next steps include expanding production to 1-liter formats for passenger vehicles and motorcycles, as well as the start of the manufacture of 20-liter drums for heavy-duty vehicles and industrial applications. With this roadmap, the joint venture aims to become one of the main players in the local market, making the most of its combined skills and supported by a specific commercial and marketing strategy.
This advance reflects the value proposition of Repsol Lubricants, with validated technology and European formulations produced closer to the point of demand, to offer availability, consistency, and trust in every oil change. The strategy in the Philippines complements the joint ventures established in recent years with Bardahl in Mexico or United Oil in Singapore, and reinforces the foundations for the sustained growth of the brand.
