CFV: What is the Philippine Speed Championship?
The Philippine Speed Championship (CFV) is Repsol Lubricants' new commitment to race track motorcycling in the Philippines. The competition, which is now called Repsol CFV, seeks to establish itself as a major player in local motor sport, with all the structure, atmosphere, and staging of world-class competition.
In this new chapter, the championship is an event fully sponsored by Repsol Lubricants and the circuit is fully emblazoned with the brand's image. The organizer, meanwhile, is Inside Racing, a household name in Filipino motorcycling. Founded in 2004 as a specialized magazine, the brand has also evolved as a promoter of events, exhibitions, and championships. As such, it provides market knowledge, connection with the motorcycling community, and experience in the development of local competitions.
The 2026 edition is held over three rounds. The first took place on May 10th, while the next two are scheduled for July and October. All the events are held on the same stage, Tarlac Circuit Hill, which lets the championship build an ongoing narrative over the course of the year and turn this circuit into the project's home track.
The concept of the Philippine Speed Championship starts with the Spanish Speed Championship, the historic CEV, one of the great training and projection platforms for motorcycle riders. This conceptual link is key to understanding the CFV, which goes beyond organizing races and also aims to build a competition with identity, continuity, and the capacity to develop talent at the local level.
Placed in the Philippine context, this model makes it possible to adapt a formula recognized within motorcycling to the particularities of the Asian market. Thus, the Repsol CFV acts as a local version inspired by that same competitive tradition but with its own approach, strengthening Repsol's association with performance, technique, and passion for two wheels.
The three rounds of the Repsol CFV are held at Tarlac Circuit Hill, a circuit first opened in 2016 and that now becomes the home of this championship in the Philippines. It was designed by Pepon Marave, champion of Asian Formula 3.
Located in the heart of the Tarlac Recreational Park, in San José, it has a length of 1.5 kilometers and 15 curves, standing out for its exacting demands of top-tier technique. The natural hills surrounding the track act as the perfect stands, allowing fans full visibility of the action.
This year, no less, Tarlac Circuit Hill takes on new prominence thanks to the deployment of the Repsol brand, transforming the venue into a place of competition fully identified with the championship. This comprehensive presence reinforces the experience both on and off the track and gives the event a more robust, professional, and immersive dimension.
Repsol CFV brings together different competition categories to accommodate diverse profiles within Philippine motorcycling. These include underbone, scooter, supersport, and club race events, a combination that expands the scope of the championship and makes it more representative of the local two-wheel ecosystem.
This variety responds to a very clear logic: to build an open, dynamic, and interconnected competition where both more popular disciplines and categories oriented to a more sporting or specialized level coexist.
In addition, the CFV includes a component to boost emerging talent. In its first round, a special category of scooter aimed at new and beginner Tarlac riders was also considered: an initiative aimed at facilitating access to the competition while continuing to train local talent.
